To Shape God

Elizabeth Mount

Prayer practices are a feature of many world religions, and even play a part in the practices of some agnostic and atheist religious thinkers. Why might this be? Come and explore with us the ways that a prayer practice can open space for hope and contemplation in a turbulent world and bring space for creative new ways of being together.

Our October speaker, Elizabeth Mount, is a UU seminarian at the Meadville Lombard School of Theology and the ministerial intern at the First Universalist Church of Denver. Elizabeth is also a life-long Unitarian Universalist and worked in education and community organizing prior to choosing ministry as their vocation.

We hope you’ll join us! As always, we will finish up with a potluck and social hour, so please bring food and/or drink to share. Blue jeans and casual attire are welcome.

Our current meeting place is 3737 New Hope Way, Castle Rock, CO, 80109, in the Castle Rock Room of New Hope Presbyterian Church*.

Please arrive by 3:45 p.m. Meetings begin promptly at 4:00 p.m.

The Journey Toward Wholeness

Elizabeth Mount at the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama

Elizabeth Mount at the Edmund Pettus Bridge, Selma, Alabama

Our denomination has made a commitment to an ever more inclusive practice, that includes people who are ever more diverse. Discerning what it is that holds us together as core values, and what are mutable preferences can keep us centered on this long journey toward becoming our best hope of who we can be. We will hear stories of shortfalls and victories, and share from our own hearts about what this beloved community has the capacity to hold within it.

Elizabeth Mount, a seminarian at Meadville Lombard, and the ministerial intern at First Universalist Church of Denver, will partner with us to explore our denomination’s journey toward multicultural, multiracial, and anti-oppressive community. Elizabeth is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist who believes in the power of faithful communities to make a better world. They will be drawing upon the promise of our faith which guides our lives toward an audacious commitment to love and justice.

Meetings begin promptly at 4 o’clock p.m.

Spiritual Lessons From The St. John’s Bridge

Elizabeth Mount, a lifelong Unitarian Universalist who believes in the power of faithful communities to make a better world, is currently a seminarian at Meadville Lombard, in addition to being a Denver-based community organizer for environmental and racial justice.

Building connections between respect for the interdependent web of all existence, and our responsibilities to create beloved community through our everyday words and actions, Elizabeth’s exploration draws upon their experience in Portland on the St. John’s Bridge as part of a Greenpeace protest.

We hope you’ll join us! As always, we will finish up with a potluck and social hour, so please bring food and/or drink to share. Our current meeting place is 3737 New Hope Way, Castle Rock, CO, 80109, in the Castle Rock Room of New Hope Presbyterian Church. Meetings begin promptly at 4 o’clock p.m.
