We will be continuing from our March Culture Club with an exploration of writing, listening to, and/or reading poetry.

Hope to see you there!

“If I read a book [and] it makes my whole body so cold no fire ever can warm me I know that is poetry. If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry. These are the only way I know it. Is there any other way?” — Emily Dickenson

“Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.” — Robert Frost

“Poetry is the revelation of a feeling that the poet believes to be interior and personal which the reader recognizes as his own.” — Salvatore Quasimodo

March 13, 2015: Culture Club

Poetry Play

The next meeting of the CRUUC Culture Club will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. Please click here to R.S.V.P. for location information.

In Culture Club, we often discuss a book or a film. Other times, we perform or read for each other. In March, please bring a favorite poem to read, plan to play with some words and maybe write something if the mood is there. Or, just come to listen and put in your two cents.

Here is a teaser to help you feel comfortable with poetry if you are not already. It should be a fun evening! We hope you’ll join us.

November 14: Culture Club

The second Friday of each month we gather for Culture Club to discuss a book, film, share poetry etc.

November’s Culture Club is Chautaqua Night

Come to participate or be an audience or both to a night of stories, song, music, drama and art — with an invitation to play with paint or join in poetry making or singing together. This is not performance — it is sharing of whatever you would like to share and enjoying what others have to share. Theme is loosely Thanksgiving and the start of Winter. Serious or silly, we will have fun.

Please RSVP for location information.
